About
Our Vision
We see a bright future for user experience, where practitioners of different backgrounds will know how to work well together to design complex products, strategies, communications, and services. User Experience will be commonly understood and accepted by designers as foundational to their work. And User Experience will mature into a cross-disciplinary practice comprised of common language, concepts, methods, and shared wisdom needed to enable collaboration.
Our Mission
UXnet creates effective, functional, and strategic networks to enable cross-disciplinary collaboration. We connect people, organizations, resources, and ideas to enable the growth and maturation of User Experience as a practice, a community, and eventually a discipline.
Our Plan
UXnet’s focus is to design, develop, and provide infrastructure to facilitate the making of those connections.
UXnet is a 501c(6) non-profit organization. We do not have paid members, as we do not want to compete with the various industry associations that do have paid members. UXnet operating expenses are covered solely by donations and sponsorships.
Our current focus is:
- Build and strengthen our substantial base of Local Ambassadors, volunteers from around the world who are user experience trailblazers in their local communities
- Create and expand a useful and functional website that provides important information and functionality to our volunteers and the user experience industry
- Cultivate the participation and cooperation of other industry non-profit organizations for the betterment of the international user experience community
- Generate significant sponsorship dollars that enable us to create and provide valuable tools that empower organizations and individuals
- Serve as worthy standard-bearers for the user experience industry, doing our part to help promote UX and educate the general public as to its function and value
UXnet strategy is formulated by a Board of Directors, with guidance provided by a stellar Advisory Board.
UXnet was conceived in 2001 and launched as an unincorporated, exploratory venture in 2004. We incorporated in 2006.
